It is a basic assumption that when you're buying a home, "your" agent will be working in your best interests. And, in Ontario, the Registrar (who oversees our industry with a battery of legal experts) has required all agents to put this in writing, with Consumer Protection in mind.

As a result, we have another set of forms to complete. This creates a contract in which the Purchaser agrees to buy only through this agent, and the agent agrees to work for the purchaser. Duties of the agent, besides explaining agency, include that we explain and advise throughout the process, helping the buyer come to informed decisions, and safeguard confidential information. We pledge to search listed and UNlisted properties to fit the purchasers' requirements. We commit to evaluate real estate trends and marketplace activities as well as individual properties for the buyer. We advocate your position, advise on price, terms and financing; we negotiate for you.
